A young science school built for Bicolano learners
Goa Science High School is a public secondary school in Goa, Camarines Sur, offering a special science curriculum for Grades 7 to 12. Established in 2015 and on its own campus since 2017, it is a young school with a plain purpose: keep a rigorous science education within reach of the learners of Goa and its neighbouring towns.
From Belen Street to Tagongtong
Every year, learners from Goa sat the Philippine Science High School entrance examination, and every year most of them did not make it — leaving a science curriculum out of reach unless the family could send a child away from Goa entirely. In 2015 local stakeholders decided the town should stop exporting that problem and build the school here instead.
GSHS opened in a temporary campus, the ABC Building along Belen Street, and moved to its own grounds in Tagongtong in 2017. The curriculum was special from the first intake: extra laboratory hours, an advanced mathematics track, and a research project every learner defends out loud — near enough to home that no family has to choose between the two.

The school is established
Local stakeholders open GSHS so learners who miss the Philippine Science High School cut-off can still take a science curriculum without leaving Goa. Classes begin in a temporary campus at the ABC Building along Belen Street.
- 2017
Relocation to the permanent campus
The school moves to its own grounds in Tagongtong, Goa — room at last for dedicated laboratories and a full six year levels.

Six year levels on one campus
Junior high and senior high now run at Tagongtong, from Grade 7 through Grade 12.
